Age has become a mere number for Tom Brady as he approaches his 45th birthday and 23rd NFL season. No NFL player has ever played to age 50 though. But could he be the first?
Brady was recently asked if he can envision himself playing all the way to age 50. In an interview with Complex, Brady said that he thinks he has the physical ability to play until 50.
However, Brady doesn’t believe he will because he “knows the commitment that it takes” to go that long.
He pointed out that it’s already a big commitment to be away from his children. Brady feels that he owes them more of his time as they get older
It’s a great question. There’s two answers to that. I do think I could play till 50. But I don’t think I will just because I know the commitment that it takes.
I know the commitment that it takes for me at 44 and 45. I worked out today and it’s a big commitment and I’m away from my 14-year-old son and my 12-year-old son and my nine-year-old daughter.
And they deserve my time and energy and they’re getting older,” Brady said.
There have been a number of NFL players who have played at a high level into their 40s. But none have been as good – or aged as gracefully – as Tom Brady has.
He’s broken just about every record for longevity that the NFL has and already has more Super Bowl rings than any other player.
At this point, Brady is playing to further and further cement himself as the greatest player of all-time.
