Mike Krzyzewski coached the final game of his career Saturday night. His farewell tour ended with Duke falling to North Carolina, 81-77, in a heated Final Four matchup that met the lofty hype.

It was Duke’s 13th Final Four appearance under Coach K, who led the Blue Devils to five national championships.

He has nothing left to prove after building the prestigious men’s basketball powerhouse over more than four decades. However, losing to Duke’s top rival is nevertheless a bitter final chapter.

Fans are also snake-bitten about sports icons saying they’re done, only to return in short order.

Last month, quarterback Tom Brady decided he’s coming back to the NFL less than two months after retiring.

That led many fans on Twitter to joke about Coach K following in Brady’s footsteps.

Krzyzewski announced his plans to retire last June, naming associate head coach Jon Scheyer as his successor.

That led to an entire season of sending off the 75-year-old, who also had his home finale spoiled by the Tar Heels.

It seems far less likely that Coach K changes his mind, as Brady didn’t reveal his decision until after the 2021 season concluded. But you never know.
