After the Browns acquired former Cowboys wide receiver Amari Cooper in a trade on Saturday,
the organization informed longtime Cleveland wideout Jarvis Landry that he can seek a trade this offseason.
According to reports from NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Browns are “highly likely” to release Landry and save $16.6 million against the cap in 2022.
The Patriots, Chiefs, Titans and Jets are reportedly the favorites to strike a new deal with the five-time Pro Bowler.
The Patriots and Jets are both prime examples of teams in need of improved talent at the wide receiver position heading into 2022.
Both with up-and-coming quarterbacks (Mac Jones and Zach Wilson), neither New England or New York gave their young QBs many solid targets to throw to in their rookie seasons.
Landry would likely take over as WR1 for both of these organizations.
The Chiefs and the Titans are both examples of teams with a track record of welcoming veteran wide receiver talent to their already-established offensive units
Landry would join a talented group of Tyreek Hill, Mecole Hardman and Byron Pringle in KC, and a stacked WR room of A.J. Brown, Julio Jones and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine in Nashville.
Through 12 games this past season, Landry logged a career-low 570 yards and two touchdowns.
And given the success that his longtime former teammate Odell Beckham Jr. experienced after leaving the Browns organization
the 29-year-old WR could be looking forward to greener pastures this coming season.
